Response to Technopoly

Technopoly came off as a very paranoid book in my opinion. The author seemed convinced that eventually technology would reach the point of no longer being a helpful thing. He seemed to think that it was going to dilute our human capabilities to the point that we would forget how to do the most basic things and all he is nervous that it is going to give us an overload of information that will only confuse our lives ever more. In some cases I can see his point; like the information overload such as Facebook, Twitter and even Google. But saying that we're going to become slaves towards technology is slightly far fetched I think, because we're mainly inventing machines that help us with daily activities, not machines to tell us what to do. I believe that Technopoly is a good warning about the absolute worst possible scenario when it comes to the outcome of technology.
